tomorrow, twenty three years after you first opened your eyes / three and some after my own were blessed to know their light / two years after you first closed them as our lips pressed together / a year after my own could last know in them something better

tonight & each night after, before you close your eyes / i swear i pray to God our worst doesn’t pass before your mind’s

tomorrow, twenty-three years after you first opened her eyes / let them know in your own your pride
